Bonnyville PONTIACS Conditioning Camp
2013 May 28th
Our Conditioning camp will provide players born 1997 and older an opportunity to get ready for the upcoming hockey season through ice sessions designed to get their hands, feet and conditioning back after the summer in preparation for their try outs. Each ice session will feature high tempo drills while incorporating “habit based repetition” along with individual and team tactics to prepare players for the upcoming season. The four days will integrate speed, tempo and pace along with habits intended to improve players’ physical conditioning.
The dates of the conditioning camp are August 12, 13, 14 and 15 at the R.J. LaLonde Arena in Bonnyville. The sessions will be run by the PONTIACS Coaching staff Rick SWAN and Larry DRAPER.
The cost for the 4 days is $130.00 and registration can be confirmed through email at ldraper@bonnyvillepontiacs.com.
BILLETS
We are looking for families to join our PONTIAC Family
2013 May 10th
The Bonnyville PONTIACS ‘Billet Family’ Program plays a major role in our team's success both on and off the ice. The Bonnyville PONTIACS are looking for families in the Bonnyville and Lakeland area who are interested in opening their doors to provide the team's players a “home away from home“ during the season or a temporary home during our Main Camp through the first three weeks in September.
Our players often become just like one of the family. Our players come into our Billet’s lives at an early, impressionable age and leave as young men. They are away from their friends and family and our billets become very important in their lives. The players arrive from all over North America and our Billet families will make a significant difference to our PONTIAC players who have left their families to pursue their goals and dreams.
Our coaching staff and our Director of Player Personnel works extremely hard at identifying young men with not only hockey talent, but solid moral and ethical values as well.
During the day the players are kept busy with practices, video sessions, off-ice skill development, team meetings, individual player meeting and physical conditioning. We have a "Work or School Policy" and during the week, their mornings can consist of work, school or team generated work-outs. Their evenings can consist of involvement in the community, volunteering the time, league games, homework or just enjoying some quite time alone with their billet families or teammates. Our players have an extremely structured and committed schedule.
Billeting is a tremendous experience in which you can share in a young person’s goals and dreams and develop a lifelong connection with a player from all around the province and North America. The rewards can be immeasurable. In fact, many families still keep in contact with their players as they move through the ranks of college and professional hockey many years later.
Our billet families will receive remuneration in the amount of $400.00 per month per player and they will also receive 2 regular season tickets for home games and invitations to team events.
Please contact the Bonnyville PONTIACS Office for more information. (780) 826-2893.
