Volunteer Assistant Coach – Catholic University of America – ACHA DIII
The Catholic University of America Men's Ice Hockey Team, located in Washington, DC is accepting resumes for the 2013 - 2014 Season for Assistant Coaches.
About the Program:
Catholic University participates in the highly competitive Blue Ridge Hockey Conference (BRHC) and is a member of the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA). The team begins practicing on ice in early September, and practices 2 nights per week and plays nearly all of its games on weekends. Overnight travel occurs approximately 4 - 5 weekends per season. The team plays a schedule of approximately 25-30 games per season.
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Head Coach in organizing, planning and implementing practice and training sessions on and off the ice;
- Assisting in selecting the team;
- Assisting in game management;
- Assist in the monitoring of our student athletes;
- Attend all scheduled games, practices and league meetings;
- Video breakdown and analysis;
- Player performance evaluations;
- Work closely and communicate effectively with the Head Coach, Assistant Coaches and Team Student President.
Preferred Qualifications:
- USA Hockey Level 3 Certification. (Level 4 or 5 preferred)
- Experience coaching at the collegiate, high school and/or advanced youth travel level
- Previous Junior or Collegiate playing experience
- Strong leadership and disciplinary skills
- Sound knowledge of game theory and concepts including systems and special teams play
These positions are currently unpaid, volunteer roles with the possibility of a stipend being offered, budget dependent. These positions provide a great opportunity to gain experience at the collegiate level in all aspects of coaching; including leadership, game/practice management and individual player development.
