Position Summary:
Support the Head Coach in all aspects of a professional hockey program, including player development, recruiting, game preparation, and day-to-day team operations to achieve competitive success and maintain league and organizational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with on-ice coaching: practice planning, skill development, systems implementation, special teams (power play/penalty kill), and in-game adjustments.
• Scout opponents and prepare video and detailed reports for game planning.
• Lead player recruitment efforts: identify, evaluate, and communicate with prospective professional hockey players; coordinate player visits, and tryouts.
• Mentor players on personal development, professionalism, and adherence to team standards.
• Manage team logistics including travel coordination and scheduling.
• Conduct film breakdown, statistical analysis, and maintain player performance records.
• Represent the organization at community, sponsor, and fan engagement events; assist with fundraising and outreach initiatives. Required Qualifications:
• Professional hockey playing experience or prior coaching experience in professional hockey, the SPHL, junior hockey, or other high-level leagues preferred.
• Strong knowledge of hockey systems, tactics, and player development techniques.
• Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of SPHL and professional hockey operations, player personnel management, and league regulations.
