About the Role
We are seeking a qualified and proactive Construction Safety Officer (CSO) to ensure a safe, compliant, and productive work environment on all active job sites. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in safety regulations, and committed to promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor all on-site activities to ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and industry safety standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits.
- Lead daily toolbox talks, safety orientations, and emergency drills.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and prepare detailed reports with corrective actions.
- Maintain and update all safety documentation, site logs, and compliance records.
- Collaborate with site supervisors and project managers to identify risks and implement control measures.
- Ensure workers are properly trained and using the required PPE.
- Enforce safety policies and immediately address unsafe behaviours or conditions.
- Support the development of site-specific safety plans and emergency procedures.
Qualifications
- Valid Construction Safety Officer (CSO) certification.
- Minimum 1–3 years experience in construction safety (preferred).
- Strong understanding of WorkSafeBC OHS Regulations and construction safety practices.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to remain calm and decisive in high-pressure situations.
- Strong report writing, documentation, and organizational abilities.
- Additional safety certifications WHMIS, First Aid Level Advanced OFA 3 are required (Fall Protection, Confined Space, TCP, Telehandler, Skid Steer, Forklift are an asset).
